review 1: Who wouldn't like to be rescued and restored would be my question to all and the answer must be everyone. This was part of this story, plus more history with the "First Nations" in the Carolina/Tennessee area and politics of states. I especially liked Cade n Jesse's characters plus Bears, Shell Bird n Bethany. Little suspense in the story to keep us turning the pages hoping for a happy ever after outcome, which did come. Must have been a huge dilemma for the Indians being let down by white man promises n breaking them. Cruelty and selfishness of people is awful to read about. Wanting to belong n to fit in is a basic human feeling n when it is taken away as in the story where Jesse is taken by Indians at 3 years old n Tamsen's mother not able to be open in telling her daugh... moreter that she was a slave n not knowing that marriage may have been complicated if that info was commonly known. (a lot to think about for some people then as now to reflect) Thank you Lori for this book look forward to your next book adventure.
review 2: Lori Benton brings us a historical adventure interlaced with romance and suspense. The adventure begins in western North Carolina in 1797 and leads across the vast mountain wilderness that will test her characters faith and endurance. Her well developed characters will grab you from page 1. I loved Tamsen and enjoy watching her grow and develop. Jesse is always trying to help those in need while maintaining his morals and values. The masterful use of imagery will transport the reader into the story. This is a story of love, trust and faith. less
