review 1: As I was reading this book I kept thinking this is a like the old B horror movies. You know the character really shouldn't be doing what he is, that he is a complete idiot for not seeing what is front of his eyes but you just can't tear yourself away. Cyrus was pretty creepy from the start it just kept getting worse. Yeah tentacles might be all well and good but when you've seen what his last boyfriend looked like and the nice monster keeps telling you what to do and not in the BDSM type way it's time to start worrying. By the end I was rolling my eyes a little at the over the top cheese of heart ripping, bird carrying, and monster roasting but it also fit the horror type book that this was. I have to admit there were a couple places I was reading so intently that a l... moreoud noise made me jump so this was definitely a page turner. Don't expect hearts and flowers but this is a very unique kind of m/m book if your looking for something off the beating path. Just watch out for tentacles, suckers, and someone wanting to pod you.
review 2: well..that was interesting. As awkward as it sounds some of the earlier tentacle sex was pretty smoking (but then again I'm pretty easy when its two people in lurve). I enjoyed the writing although there are a few times where the wrong name is being used which was confusing in an already "wtf" kinda story. I was actually really drawn into the story until a certain someone went bat shit crazy. I did like the little island mystery secret. It was weirdly creative. I would have been happier with a different epilogue but oh wells. This was a quick read that quickly had me hooked but then lost me when this and that happened. I would recommend this title because once you start you're gonna want to stick around to figure out what's going on. less
