review 1: The Reluctant Marquess put a unique twist on an old storyline. When Robert and Charity marry to satisfy the terms of a will so Robert can inherit, they aren't quite sure what to expect from each other. Charity and Robert decide to make a go of it, if only to satisfy both of their material needs, if not emotional ones. Charity is a blast of fresh air for the London ton, who isn't quite sure what to make of her and her strange country ways. Charity is trying to make the best of her marriage and find some semblance of love with Robert, but he seems to be against the thought from the very beginning. The ending of the story was very touching, with a bit of humor thrown in as well.
review 2: I generally avoid any books written with characters with value names li... moreke Charity, Grace, Prudence, etc... PLEASE authors, please stop naming your heroines with those types of names!Oh, no! Charity is the heroine of this story.I may have vomited in my mouth a little.I stuck it out anyway, against my will, but truthfully I grew to like Charity. She is so good she is worthy of love, stubborn and filled with self confidence (which I blame totally of the fact that she was well raised and loved, although poor). Robert the Marquess (hence the title) on the other hand is a spoiled selfish entitled immature man-child. Well, I can't really blame him, since he is just a product of his upbringing and time period. I did respect that in the end he was faithful to his wife, but I did want to slap him a few times.Cute sweet Georgian historical English romance that I got free for kindle. Well edited and written with great dialogue and a sweet deserving heroine, I just which she had a better name.2 stars. less
