review 1: Remy is in love with 2 things; his girlfriend and his hometown. Melissa Wyatt really fleshes out the lead character and makes me want to visit Dwyer, West Virginia. Wyatt's writing made me fall in love with that place. It seems Wyatt knows boys/men really well. The relationship between Remy and his dad is very believable, it could have been me and my dad. The descriptions of how he feels when he is with Lisa are so spot on. Wyatt has an amazing way of getting into the male mind. Great coming of age story it flies by in a flash. No I wonder how will I ever get to Dwyer?
review 2: There’s almost no hope for a win-win conclusion to this romance. Remy and Lisa have just graduated from high school in the worn out West Virginia mountain town of Dwyer. There’s no do
... moreubt they’re in love. But that’s where the certainties end. Remy has no plan for college, and can’t imagine abandoning his divorced father to their mountain-side trailer. Lisa is going to college in Pennsylvania, and can’t imagine leaving Remy behind, even though that’s exactly what her parents are scheming for. To spark the conflict, Dana appears. She’s an outsider, intent on getting Remy for herself. Remy’s reaction doesn’t match his good-guy love-is-blind persona. And Dana seems to trigger more soul-searching than she deserves, for such a brief summer cameo. Then again, it may make sense to see teen love as one more form of erosion, threatening to beat the mountains down. The author has a good feel for the region, and the kind of loyalties that can build there. less

It puts an amazing perspective on the things we think we love and what is truly important to us.
