review 1: This was not an easy book to read. Even though the author throws in a bunch of humor, readers will still cringe when they read about the horrors that she went through. How confused her mind was. One thing she does really successfully is put a human face on mental illness. She makes us realize that people with mental illnesses aren't simply crazy. They are people with jobs, families and lives. I learned a lot.
review 2: In terms of mental illness memoirs, this is the funniest I've read, in terms of the author humourizing the tale. It is almost a constant throughout the book. It may not be as dramatic or moving as some (although it is at times), or as comprehensive, but the humour is definitely appreciated. The story, and the humour, is accentuated by
... morethe fact that Moezzi is an Iranian-American Muslim, yet she seems to adore the American lifestyle and can "talk American" (with all its slang, swearings, and cliches) better than any true-blue Yankee I have come across. less
