review 1: I give this book 2.5 stars. I really enjoyed the parts in the story where the dogs gave their views on the world around them. They explained all the actions humans tend to take for granted and their true meaning. I wasn't particularly interested in Gil's relationship with his girlfriend or his ex-wife. The main interesting point in the story is Gil's relationship with Jimmy who gets very upset when he learns that Gil is not his biological father. This storyline was the saving grace of the story that had me round up to 3 stars.
review 2: This book is entertaining. It's funny and it's written in a very natural way. I love the talking dogs. However, I was about 2/3 of the way through when a friend of mine saw me reading it and asked me what it was about. It wa... moresn't until then that I realized there isn't much of a plot because I couldn't tell her! The only real bond between characters is Gil and Jimmy but other than that, no one if very nice and there is no real development. I still thoroughly enjoyed this, though, had trouble putting it down and just wanted to keep on reading it. less
