review 1: This book confirmed everything that I already believed about the NHS. Budget cuts, leading to major staff shortages, equals poor patient care and as he describe in one case, death due to the lack of staff. It makes you wonder how many more people have died of become seriously unwell because of this. It was at least slightly reassuring hearing the positive stories and knowing that there are still nurses out there who will still go over and above their duties as those are few and far between these days. I appreciated his honesty, even if some of his attitudes and opinions weren't to my taste. I would definitely recommend this for everyone to read to get insight into the life as a nurse.
review 2: When I pick up a confessions book, I want real stories and a t
... morerue insight to that particular profession. Having read many books in the confession series, I can confirm that this book does that better than any of the others. Don't pick it up if you're looking for a serious analysis of the politics of health care, this book is more like sitting down to a chat with a friendly nurse. The author's writing is engaging but easy and u had no trouble warming to him immediately. less
