review 1: This was really interesting, but it's definitely more focused on the business end than the creative end of Sesame Street. About half of the book covers the time before Sesame Street went on the air, and quite a bit is about Captain Kangaroo and other children's shows that preceded Sesame Street, which left the chapters about the many years of the show being on the air feeling a little rushed. Pretty interesting stuff anyway, though!
review 2: Pretty interesting history of Sesame Street, though it could have gotten a bit more behind some of the protagonists. But there were many people, so I suppose it was a pretty good balance. It was fascinating to read how the show developed in the beginning, all the different pieces that had to come together for it to be a su... moreccess. It only barely touched on the heavy commercialization of Sesame Street in later years though, that would have been interesting too. less
