review 1: This book is a drag. Which not necessarily a bad thing; it's fascinating, but an utter bummer. Kasher's childhood was beyond angsty, beyond troubled and so far beyond anything I could compare to mine. This is not a "quirky" or "charming" view of drug addiction. This is some hardcore shit and it is not a nice read. Luckily, Kasher's humor comes through the pages, otherwise it might have driven me to drink (whether out of depression or solidarity, who can say)

Most of the book consisted of the middle years where he was strung out on something or another and I wish he would have gone into more detail about the difficulties of getting clean but it was still great to see someone turn their life around.
