review 1: I am reviewing all of the Sailor Moon (new English translation) volumes in order, please check out 1 & 2 for my initial and overall thoughts on the series.Vol.3 is the first book where the audience is left with a few major cliffhangers as we are now moving into a 2nd major story arc. We are finally introduced to Chibi-Usa but we don't know who she really is yet. We are also introduced to the Black Moon clan, but we don't really know who they are yet either. Mars and Mercury are captured and we're left not knowing where exactly they are or how to get them back to Earth.The story continues it's rapid pace with pauses here and there to showcase the genuine passion between Usagi and Mamoru. With all of these volumes so far, I was left with wanting more and really looking f... moreorward to the next one, since I can barely keep up with everything that's happening.One thing I'm loving about this manga series vs. the anime is that the inner senshi are paired with the generals, and it's abundantly clear that they are parallels of one another. In the anime, this was never alluded to or made obvious in any way. You really begin to notice the intricacy in the storyline through the color panels at the beginning of each volume. They initially appear just playful, editorial versions of the characters, but they actually paint a bigger picture.On to the next one!
review 2: Oh, Chibi Usa, I forgot how much of a prick you appeared to be at first. But gahhh this is still wonderful and Usako/Mamo-chan forever and all that jazz. I love that we've reached the end of the Queen Metaria episode, because that's basically all I know of Sailor Moon, and are moving into (for me) new territory. I love the girl's friendships, I love the drawings.. I just love everything, okay. I'm starting to think you seriously miss out on stuff if you're not into Sailor Moon because it's so brilliant. less
