review 1: 3 starsI liked the concept but I really did not like how it was not explained. I know that this was something that could not be explained and that the love between Ben and Evie was the main focus but I really wanted some sort of reason as to why she kept disappearing every leap year. I liked how it was just a low-key love story that was highlighted while her disappearing act was put on the back burner. I felt like their earlier years were so well described and while I liked that, I wished their latter years also went in depth...which it didn't. I needed more of them living their life as they were older. I also disliked how they did not fight besides that one point when she was 18 but nothing after that. I get that they were so in love but did they not fight or not agree up... moreon one idea? I liked Natalie Ward's writing and I probably will be reading another book by her!
review 2: 3.5 to 4 stars. This was a pretty interesting story! I can't imagine how confusing it must be to wake up one morning and just KNOW that you were missing something but you just didn't know what, and to find that the people around you were not the family you had when you went to sleep. It was very weird and pretty darn entertaining. I really liked Ben and Evie's story and while I would REALLY love to know the WHY it happened I think the story holds itself together ok without it. My only dislike was towards the end when they were at it all the time and I was thinking ... "lets move it along people ... yes you love each other, yes you shag like rabbits but come on ... I want to know whats going to happen at midnight". I never thought I would complain about too much naughtiness but there you go, when the story is good in my opinion sometimes you can leave a bit of the funny business to the imagination. All in all, I liked this very much. less
