review 1: The genre of this book is a picture book, and is intended for children who are (P) ages five to eight. This book is about a busy beaver who only thought about himself. He was breaking down trees, and hurting his friends, and taking homes away from fellow animals, without even noticing. When he eventually realizes that he needs to slow down and apologize to his friends, things get better and everyone is happy. The theme of this book is great. It teaches young children about caring for others, and apologizing when you do something wrong. The pictures are cartoonish, which the children are sure to enjoy. The pictures also follow along with the words on each page, so that if a child can not yet read, they can follow the story easily. There is also a page that teaches c... moreounting from one to ten. I would recommend this book, especially in the classroom to help teach children why it is important to be nice and help others.
review 2: You don't see too many picture books in which a character realizes he was wrong about something and consciously goes about trying to make amends the way the beaver does in this book, and I like how Oldland makes the lesson palatable with humor (the bear responding to beaver getting out of the hospital by running away and shouting "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" made me laugh hard). A nice addition to library collections. less
