review 1: I really enjoyed this book. The historical time and viewpoint were enlightening. Some reviewers seemed to think that her attitude was cold, but I don't see that at all. I found her to be factual, honest, and interesting. Often the writing in books of this sort is less than desirable, but that cannot be said of this one. Excellent pace and carry through. Hope she writes about her life after this time period.
review 2: Certainly an interesting description of how the other half lives -- related to most of the nobility of Europe, and close to Elizabeth II, Hicks has led a very interesting life.
