review 1: I didn't completely hate this story but I wouldn't recommend it or reread. I didn't read the whole book. I skipped a lot of the sex, not that I had a problem with it, it was just back to back to back and WAY too much talking during the scenes. There were three things that really irked me though one being the atrocious dialogue. No one talks the way they do in this book. I kept cringing and rolling my eyes at the unrealisticness of the conversations and actions of these characters .The attempt at humor also failed. I couldn't understand why anyone "roared" with laughter in this book. The second thing that bothered me was everything moved super fast especially the relationship between the two main characters. Stories never build up anymore..... Finally I did not like how th... moree children was beyond accepting to this completely unexpected and instant relationship between the two main characters. What happened to baby steps, discussing it, and compromising? Jake basically said forget everyone else they will have to suck it up and deal including my children because I am not giving up this man I met 2 weeks ago. WHAT!? Not that the children cared because they were beyond alien perfect in this book. They accepted everything, loved every one, were never disrespectful, did their homework without being asked, and rainbows and sunshine, and flowers. Puh-lease
review 2: Once again i find myself reading a book by a Author i havn't read before and i just love finding new Authors and i am so glad i found this little gem.Once in a while a book comes along that really touches you that makes you sit back and think.Well this book did that for me and it makes me sad that same sex relationships are still frowned upon in this day and age.We are all human, still breath, hope and love,Their love is just for the same sex. Patricia really makes you feel like you know the character's they feel so real to you.In one scene where Jake first meets Cade OMG you could feel the heat coming off the pages i even felt like it was me stood there looking Cade up and down getting all hot and bothered. My oh my Cade is sex on legsmy dream man if he was straight. :)And i can't tell you how hot the sex scenes where well i can let's just say i was peeking over my kindle giving my hubbie the eye. ;)This isn't just a story about two men finding each other this is so much more. What Cade has gone through in his life to hiding what he is, the beatings he has taken. From Jake losing his wife finding out that he has feelings for another man,to his son being bullied it was heartbreaking at times to read. And oh the hate you feel for the Bigots in this story. Will i read another book by Patricia Logan? your damn right i will and do i highly recommend this book? Oh yes i do.Thanks Patricia for bringing Cade and Jake into my life this is one i wont forget for a while. less
