review 1: It's exhilarating to read after such a long stretch of being absent from the act itself. Almost like I forgot the joy of visualizing a story and its characters just as the narrative moves in front of my eyes. Besides it was a read that gripped my mind and brought about some questions, sweepingly back to my conscious from a more sub-conscious level - mostly self restrained to become obviously overt, in the midst of this chaotic schedule. These thoughts wandered on the life and its purpose, the whole essence of life and its purpose. How life only aims to teach us things, and these things being usually the ones we have read over and over biblically or otherwise. Yet we only seem to have an understanding of them when we experience them in true sense , each through their own wa... morey. The journey is an individual path and might be difficult but the destination remains the same. We all are some where similar in our basic instincts and what moulds us differently are, our actions in various situations. Rest is usually an amplification - as per the circumstances. And the dilemmas of the human mind and fluxes of thought under varied situations, makes it more synchronous to our existence.Extracts from the book where often the saints and sufi singers are quoted bring back a rawness in the way most simple truth can be presented in a subtle and lyrical way.
review 2: The book starts on the promising note. Sadly that is not enough; the pace gained in the beginning gets lost somewhere in the middle and the story is off track by the time it reaches the end. When the author discloses the climax in the middle of the book; I think there was nothing much to do with the characters and some how the story gets dragged towards the end.The quotes embedded are nice. The philosophical thoughts are good but one can take only so much of them. Burma does sound promising in the beginning but not as much the Author wants to make it. Overall a very average book. The second half is really boring and one might be tempted to skip pages. :) less

Good stuff. The entire 'God is great' part gets to you after a while though. Beautiful, nonetheless.

I really enjoyed it. Anand's Escapades to and in Bhutan nicely blends with the story.

The second part of the book is horrifying, easy one day page turner.
