review 1: This is surely the definitive single volume book on the Thirty Years War. The war was a long and complex one, and even though the author did a good job in explaining it all, it's still possible some might get lost in all the information. Heavy, heavy on details, a bit too heavy for my taste. And a not too sprightly writing style.

Stalled and put back on the shelf in favor of other books. I will come back to it someday

A good overview of the 30 years war. Fair Warning, it is a door stopper of a book.
