review 1: Benjamin Bear in Bright Ideas is a great introduction to graphic novels. It would be perfect for kindergarteners and first graders because it doesn’t require as much reading and it is humorous. The book does not have an ongoing plot, but has a new story on each page. Each mini story centers on Benjamin Bear and his sidekick Rabbit as they come up with “bright ideas.”Text-to-Self: Benjamin Bear and his sidekick Rabbit have “bright ideas” like tying themselves together so they do not lose each other. Their relationship reminds me of the relationship I have with my best friend. We always have wacky ideas that at the time seem great but they end up not being such a bright idea. One time we thought it would be a great idea to make up our own cookie recipe, which... more totally backfired on us when our cookies came out inedible!Text-to-Text: The back and forth mischievous adventures of Benjamin Bear and Rabbit reminded me of the relationship between Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huck and Tom were always coming up with “bright ideas.” One of their ideas was creating a band of robbers and all the things they could steal and how they would handle anyone that got in their way. Text-to-World: This comic reminded me of the television show Tom and Jerry. Tom is a cat and Jerry is a mouse. The plot line of every episode is the rivalry that ensues between them. Each episode they come up with new ideas to get rid of one another. Their ideas usually flop but it is funny to watch them try. Their ideas are similar to the ones Benjamin Bear comes up with.
review 2: Been trying to beef up my graphic novel smarts..and this was such a fun, fast read. Each page features Benjamin Bear in a new, creative predicament..having to figure something out in his own way. It's a fantastically sweet recommendation for boys and girls & adults alike. I've seen both laugh out loud at the silly little challenges, plus- and this sounds cheesy- but I mean it- it makes you just think a little differently to see this big goofy bear trying all these ridiculous stunts..I think this is good brain food. Really. less

This is a collections of unrelated simple stories that finish as a joke. Hilarious!
