review 1: I really like shoplifting. I have been snagged twice for it. I come from a line of shoplifters. My mom stole Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde in a record booth. That's a heavy double album folks, and think of the size. Amazing take. Eyeless in Gaza was my first grab. Since then, its been everything in sight. small lamps, scarves, unwashed vintage stoles, lousy shampoos. I love Joni Mitchell's lyric "I wanna to Shampoo you ... I wanna renew you again and again ... applause applause life is our cause" Life is the petty theft of rancor from the claws of applause, our cause is untame, hidden behind sunglasses, leopard lies, a funny surprise and a quickened broken heart.

Shteir was as thorough as she could be, I suppose, given the real lack of information available about why exactly people (particularly women) shoplift. This was another discount table find, and one that I’m particularly ambivalent about. less
