review 1: I heard quite a bit of buzz regarding this book prior to picking it up and actually reading it. Due to the fact that I've read many of this author's blog posts (and even commented on them) and have had a few Twitter conversations with her, I was familiar with her tone and this is just what I expected.I read this in one sitting; I was kind of surprised at how short it was. It's put together in short snippets: some poetry, some very abstract prose and some traditional memoir type passages. Like others have said, it's like opening up someone's journal and getting a glimpse into their life. The stream of consciousness writing style may be off-putting to some. Personally, I didn't mind it.At times, her memories made me want to cry. Her courage at going public with many hi... moreghly personal topics is commendable. Some of this was admittedly uncomfortable to read. Some things were shocking and hard to fathom. Other parts of it I could relate to given my own experiences (namely the childbirth and bad boy sections). This being said, I still saw traces of her more familiar snark shining through. A couple of memories are humorous, so not everything is all gloom and doom. All in all, I could have laughed, I could have cried, and I found this to be an enjoyable read.
review 2: This book is a poem of life, love, and loss. Rachel follows her own life, and writes about what is like to feel like you've lost it, and yet find yourself in the midst of it all. Hard to give a summary of the book because of how unfocused on any given topic it is.First off, what's not to love. I seriously melted with this book. Each page was like its own story. So in depth, but so true. It really makes you appreciate the good you have, and realize you are not alone in the bad.Conent: Sexual content. Abuse. less
