10 Reasons Why I Love My Instant Pot

The Instant Pot is the newest kitchen fad. It’s a cooking appliance with many uses. It can be used to sautée, steam, pressure cook, and slow cook foods, just to name a few uses. It can even be used as a rice cooker and as a yogurt maker. Ever since I started using the Instant Pot a year and a half ago, I keep finding different new ways to use it. Here, I’ve decided to make a short list of all the reasons I like it, and why I use it so much:

Sure, the Instant Pot isn’t literally “instant”, but it comes a lot closer to it than traditional cooking methods. Preparing everything in a single pot saves a lot of time, an especially important feature on busy weeknights. Using the cooker on high pressure mode is also a lifesaver, since the higher cooking temperature makes everything go so much faster.

With the Instant Pot, you can get cooking started in a single click of a button. All you have to do is pick which mode to use and you’re already ready to start.

The Instant Pot is small enough to fit in most places, even if you don’t have much room. It’s great for people with small apartments and it’s a great start if you don’t have much cooking equipment. It’s also great for students living in dorms because even though it’s small in size, you can use it to cook almost anything.

The Instant Pot is also conveniently sized because of its volume. With the smaller 6 quart model, I find myself with leftovers almost every time I use it. The Instant Pot is also great for entertaining due to its size. Its big enough to make a meal to feed many people.

Depending on your model of Instant Pot, you’ll have many modes you can cook with (up to 10 modes these days).  This not only saves you from having to buy different equipment for each task, but also allows you to cook a greater variety of foods.

There are lots of different accessories you can buy separately to upgrade your pot. You can find everything from steaming baskets, to springform cake pans, to nonstick inner pots to improve you Instant Pot game. For example, I have a separate glass lid that I use when slow cooking so I can see the food without opening the pot and losing heat. I also got a second inner pot for when I want to work on two different recipes at the same time. Whether you upgrade you Instant Pot or not is up to you.

Like its accessories, you can also buy most of the Instant Pot’s parts separately. That means that if anything breaks, you don’t have to repurchase the whole pot. Instead, you can just easily replace the broken part yourself. For instance, the inner gasket on my Instant Pot’s lid started showing use after 1 year, so I was able to easily replace it by buying the part separately.

Sure, it’s not the easiest thing to carry around. But if you need some extra cooking space for a party or special event, it’s definitely a lot easier to bring your instant pot than your kitchen oven. Since it’s electrically powered, you can plug it in almost anywhere for cooking on the go.

The inner pot of the Instant Pot is removable, which means it’s easy to clean, whether you have a dishwasher or not. That’s the part that will get the most dirty most of the time, so it’s important that you can access it easily. The lid is also detachable, which means its easy to clean as well. Any other parts are easy to clean too, by quickly wiping them down after use.

The Instant Pot is a beginner’s necessity and an expert’s luxury. No matter what your cooking skill, you’ll probably find a way to use the Instant Pot. Of course, if you already have an appliance that fulfills each of its functionalities, it might not be for you. However, most people don’t have every appliance that can be replaced by the Instant Pot, nor do they have the space or money for them. For this reason, nearly anyone can benefit from an Instant Pot.
