A Day of Awe and Wonder

Abba woke me early this morning to suggest that I take a little break from posting my last Discipleship strategy in favor of reminding you of why we’re working on developing our Daily Practice of meeting with Him in the first place.  As we end our year and look ahead to the new one, the goal is to Live Full Out — Alive and On Fire!  Jesus LOVES us and He wants an intimacy with us that will transform our lives forever.

Let me tell you about my AWE day!!

For a few months I had been inspired to create a Woman’s Day Retreat about this Living Full Out idea and there were Spirit-filled “downloads” nearly every day about concepts and things to include.  One of my ongoing heart prayers  was to learn to see More in the Spirit, More of the time. Wouldn’t you know on this particular morning I would just “happen” to hear ‘Set a Fire’ by Jesus Culture on Pandora during my worship time? “Set a fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control– I want More of You, God!”  And of course it gets better…

A selection of reading for the day came from Gunter and Burk’s ‘Blessing Your Spirit’: “We in our humanity typically only recognize a small portion of our blessings, but I bless you, child of Yahweh, with learning more and more about the covenant conditions and the blessings that are yours and which reflect the immensity of the God who willed you into existence.”  Next, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a vision I had been given two years ago about how much God LOVES His children– how much He loves me!  I can only say it was a perfect combination of just the right stimuli at just the right time for my ripe heart/mind and spirit to experience a greater understanding of the GREATNESS of God and to be filled to overflowing with Joy… Peace… Love… Gratitude… AWE.

Now the interesting thing was, it was not what you would call a “perfect day”. I was nearly cut off on the freeway by a driver veering suddenly into my lane; I had made a mistake on my schedule missing recording time where I volunteer to read books for the blind; and my son was floundering in a dead-end job but seemingly paralyzed to make the necessary changes to go back to school.  Normally such instances would have pulled me down (at least momentarily) with fear, shame, and grief.  Yet on this day of AWE everything rolled off immediately.  I could FEEL God’s presence with me.  I could SEE Him keeping me safe on the freeway, working out the recording situation for GOOD, and I PARTNERED with Him to be able to offer my son the encouragement he needed.  It was like my spirit and emotions  literally hummed in harmony with Jesus!

In my journal entry on the next day I wrote, “You are truly IMMENSE.  It blows my mind when I really ponder the works of your hands– All of creation, Beauty, Timing, Perfect Design.  And it expands my heart to bursting when I consider your goodness and Love.  NEXT to You we are truly nothing… And yet TO You, we are everything!!”

Merry Christmas, Friends!!
