By Chance

Nothing is by chance in this world; no event, no connection, no argument, no loved ones, no family, no friends, no birth, no parting, no passing, no problems, no achievements, no fears, no tears, no successes, no failures, no comings, no goings, nothing formal, nothing casual, nothing proper, nothing improper, nothing important, nothing trivial, nothing worldly, nothing spiritual, nothing on this earth, nothing in the heavens, nothing is happenstance, it is all part and parcel of a life lived, guided, and blessed by God. This I do believe; this I trust; in this I put my faith; through this my life is blessed with hope. No matter the circumstances I know I will be and have been and am protected with a love greater than I can imagine, deserve, or understand.

I am grateful, thankful, humbled by such an overwhelming love. Dear Lord, forgive my placing me above You. I lost my way; I lost my focus; I lost my sense of purpose; help me find my way back home to You. Amen

Hebrews 11:6  The Living Bible
You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.

Deuteronomy 4:29-31  The Message
But even there, if you seek God, your God, you’ll be able to find him if you’re serious, looking for him with your whole heart and soul. When troubles come and all these awful things happen to you, in future days you will come back to God, your God, and listen obediently to what he says. God, your God, is above all a compassionate God. In the end he will not abandon you, he won’t bring you to ruin, he won’t forget the covenant with your ancestors which he swore to them.

A Mighty Fortress is Our God
Author: Martin Luther  1529

A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God’s own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!
