Finishing School
review 1: If I loved the Parasol Protectorate series and Alexis's adventures, well I must ABSOLUTELY ADORE the Finishing School books - I read numbers 2 & 3 in quick succession this last couple of days, after a few weeks of being uninspired by everything I picked up, and fell down the rabbit hole of Carriger's stylish snark. There is so much fun in these books, but there's also some clever commentary on gender roles, class, race and societal norms that gives meat to the sauce, and never mind the characters you can't help falling in love with. I want more.
review 2: This book was incredibly entertaining, well written, and above all, fun; as are all of Gail Carrigers forays into this world. This one stands above the other Finishing School set as my favourite though. The en
... moreding nearly had me crying and screaming at the characters in real fear for their lifes. The connections all felt real and true to character, and the plot, while silly, was wonderful. Also, I do feel a bit bad for Lord Akeldama... but not bad enough to want to change a single jot of that ending! More than worth the read, especially if you like her other novels. less

Not as much action as previous books, but a great read anyway. Ms. Carriger has a way with dialog.

Maybe a better title would have been Fans & Flywaymen. Ha. Such fun, as always.

I'm quite fond of Sophronia, and was surprised by the ending of this one :)
