In comics, Midnighter. (aka gay Batman who kills a lot of people). In prose, probably Jack Glass from the sci-fi novel Jack Glass: The Story of a Murderer by Adam Roberts, one of my very favorite books.
Aquaman: A book or character that turned out to be better than you expected (because let’s be real, we did not expect Khal Drogo to make Aquaman cool)
I mean, I expected Aquaman to be cool. Aquaman is cool. Jason Momoa is cool. Anyway, a recent unexpectedly-great read is Afterlife with Archie by Roberto Aguire-Sacasa. I expected either the usual Archie goofs or an ineffectual horror theme, but actually it’s terrifying. Zombies are one thing when they’re attacking horror-movie randos, another when your own friends and family are being transformed, and Archie characters feel like friends and family.
Wonder Woman: Most badass female character (not necessarily in a physical sense)
Tattersail from Gardens of the Moon by Steven Erikson, the first Malazan book. She’s one of the best magicians in the novel, if not THE best, but unlike many sorceresses in other books she comes across as very human, which only underscores the level of power she’s wielding. She’s smart and brave and gritty and beautiful and she describes herself as “the fat lady with the spells” and isn’t the least bit self-conscious about it and I love her.
Cyborg: Favorite science fiction novel
I already mentioned Jack Glass, so next up would be The God Engines by John Scalzi. I don’t always get that into Scalzi’s work, but this novella has stuck with me like very few other stories ever have. It’s kind of a fantasy/horror-inflected science fiction and it’s intense.
The Flash: A book you sped through
People tell me I’m a speed-reader in general (cough 300 books a year cough) and I will also just skim through a book if I’m not super into it but want to see how it ends or pick up the basic information. But more in the spirit of the question, I recently read the second Dark Tower book and got through it super fast because I just didn’t want to put it down. NOTHING EVEN HAPPENS IN THE BOOK I am still trying to figure out why it was so good but whatever. I’m becoming a Stephen King fan apparently.

I don’t know about saddest, but I’m still mad about the death at the end of the Hunger Games trilogy. IT MADE THE WHOLE SERIES POINTLESS WHAT EVEN AAJDJSDJASJD
