review 1: I've read a lot of books with the setting in Canada this summer. Makes me go, "Umm?" I lived in Canada for a period in my life. I was suppose to take a trip to visit the summer I had cancer surgery so, my trip was to the surgeon. Anyway, this is about a young boy who is struggling with the death of his mother from cancer and moving a lot with his dad. Danny's dad takes a job as caretaker at a marina on the shore of a vast, frozen lake in Harvest Cove, Canada. The middle of nowhere. Danny makes friends with the Army Brats. They spend time cruising looking for something to do on long, cold winter nights. Winters are cruel and harsh as I remember. One night Danny is stung or attacked by a creature.Their are others that have been stung by this creature that haunts their... more dreams at night. There is a local legend of a creature that steals souls. Danny and the Army brats must find a way to kill this creature before they lose their souls. Is this a story of a boy disturbed over his mother's death, moving all the time, or is there a creature that drives you crazy stealing your soul? If you like suspense read this story.
review 2: This book is no doubt one of my favorite books. Danny is just one of those characters that you just have to love. And Ash... I love her with all my heart. She is not a girly-Girl and I love that about her. shes differnt than most girls. Pike, now he is crazy but its in a good was I love that he never takes things to seriously and knows how to lighten the mood when he needs to. And I love his protective nature over his little brother and friends and family. Even though he does some crazy things... he is one of my all time favorite characters. And last, but not least, Howie. Oh Howie he may not have the strongest stomach ever, but he does have one of the best brains ever. I think he is so cute. And lets not forget about the plot. I love a good science fiction story. I love that you never know when something is going to happen. Its like its all sweet and cute then all of a sudden...Bam! Youre hit with something Tragic. It is defenatly a good read. less
