synopsis

Actress Sophie Birch is used to having to look out for herself. So when her theater catches fire and a big guy scoops her up into his arms to save her, she’s going to fight every step of the way. Even if he’s a cop. And really sexy. And his arms feel oh-so-good.

Finn Kelly can’t help but appreciate how good the woman in his arms looks in her sexy pink lingerie. Even if she’s currently resisting arrest.

But as the two get to know each other, they’re both surprised by the things Finn is willing to do to get closer to her. And when Sophie’s estranged father arrives in town and starts causing trouble, the stage is set for disaster…unless Finn can convince her that, for once in her life, she has someone to lean on.

♦ Personal Thought ♦

Another win in Erin Nicholas’s “Opposites Attract” series! Although there’s continuation and MCs in previous installments usually appear in the following book, each story in the series can be read as standalone. Just like this one.

Totally His is blend of fun and droll times with heartbreaking and touching moments. Finn and Sophie first met when the the theater she inherited from her grandmother caught fire. When he saw how upset his mother that the accident would delay the amateur production the theater’s plan on, he volunteers to help the fix the damage with the help of friends, family, and community. He is doubly surprised as not only the woman caught his attention during the fire is his mother’s new BFF, but also that she owns the place. What follow is what initially designed as passing affair, between the two amidst disapproval from their most dearest.

Just like the name of the series, the characters in this book came from opposite background. Sophie dreams of settling down in one place after childhood spent charming one stepmother after another for her father. And he often embroiled her in his shams. The dysfunctional relationship between Sophie and her father is just so heartbreaking to witness. The frustration and helplessness she feels and the oblivious response just got me. (Mind you, part of what she deals with hit too close to home).

Finn comes from boisterous and respectable family, following in his late father’s step to become cop. Overall he sounds like the most unlikely choice for Sophie. But man, I just love how patient and understanding his character being with Sophie and her situation. Their blossoming romance just adorable! Made me wish every girl (or guy) got to have a Finn Kelly in their life!! *wink*

The alternate POVs between him and Sophie also allow both characters past to spill into the page along with their feelings of the whole ordeal. I had my tissue-box-moments reading this, as well as snorting and laughing along with the shenanigans Finn, Sophie, and the supporting characters involved in. Totally His confirmed that “Opposites Attract” is Erin Nicholas’s must read series for me. A truly enjoyable and entertaining read for me! I can’t wait what the next story the author would bring.
