review 1: Bella is having a day that I am sure we all have experienced at one time or another. She is beside herself from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed. She opens her eyes in the morning to find her little brother licking her jewellery....yep, out goes the tongue and ....slurrpp...yum. Bella is not amused and screams ,"Get out of my room." Her day goes downhill from there with the dislike of her egg at breakfast time, to a play-date she doesn't want to keep and then an annoying trip to the market where she let's everyone around her know her true feelings. She is loud, irritating and grumps through her day making everyone around her feel exactly the same. She spreads her negativity generously and at the end of the day her sweet mom, with patience spreadin... moreg thin, puts Bella to bed with a cuddle and a good story. Bella, once she is quiet and reflective, realized the errors of her behaviour and apologizes to her mom for the horrid way she has been acting all day long. Mom in her wisdom and a heart full of love for her cantankerous little tantrum thrower accepts the apology and responds, "We all have those days sometimes, but perhaps you will be more cheerful tomorrow!" The illustrations are priceless and I loved them. Spot on. The message in the book is true because we all do, regardless of our age, experience such days. This book can be used as a valuable "teaching moment" where we can lay there with our child and go over her behaviour that day and discuss how she could have turned those negative emotions and outbursts into something positive and mood changing not only for herself but for the others around her. It is also an opportunity for Bella to go to someone, i.e. her brother, and say she is sorry for the way she behaved towards him. You are never too young to learn proper manners and etiquette and it all should begin at home under the tender care of a parent or guardian who truly cares for you.
review 2: What a dreadful book for kids! I understand what the author is trying to portray but this book pretty much gives the OK to any child to simply throw horrible tantrums all day long without consequence just because they are having a "bad day". An example of disciplinary action should have been displayed by page three. I'm throwing this one in the trash before my kids get the chance to observe this horrible acceptance of poor behavior. less
