review 1: Review of Love to Love Her by Renae Kelleigh2.5 starsRhiannon is a cute college girl with good friends and bad taste in men.Rhiannon meets Blake on her 21st birthday while she’s out with friends. He does the hot/cold thing with her for a while before he admits to having a girlfriend and the pair decide to just be friends. While their friendship blossoms, the two become more and more important to each other. Blake is a rock for Rhiannon as she copes with her sister’s cancer relapse. In turn, she becomes his best friend. Blake eventually decides it’s time to move on from his failed relationship with his girlfriend. He reveals his feelings for Rhiannon to her and she reciprocates. The two seem excited to forge ahead and continue building on the relationship they have s... moretarted. There is just one small problem…..He hasn’t actually clued his girlfriend in that their relationship is over. How will his deceptions affect the girl he once loved and the girl he wants a future with? Will Rhiannon be able to love and trust someone who lied to her once?I really liked Rhiannon and her friends. They were down to earth and fun. They seemed like a group of college girls that you might have gone to school with and would have been friends with. However, I have a real problem with infidelity and the fact that Blake moved on with Rhiannon while another woman still called to say ‘goodnight and l love you’ just really rubbed me the wrong way. I like reading books that feature men I could picture wanting and an unfaithful guy that never let either woman know the whole picture just wasn’t it for me. My other issues in the story were random and unresolved details. For example, Adam, Blake’s roommate is very harsh with Blake about his being faithful or not. This random detail left me wondering what Adam’s interest was in Blake’s relationship. I kept waiting for it to be revealed that Adam was Blake’s girlfriend’s brother or something. I couldn’t understand why he cared so much and the story never explained it. Also the pregnancy scare was random and never went anywhere. It just seemed to be filler, like something that happened between major plot points but it was brushed aside as insignificant when typically something like thinking you might be pregnant is a big deal. These details might have been minor but they distracted me from the story which made me less able to get into it. Blake and Rhiannon’s story wasn’t great for me. I found their relationship contrived and I just couldn’t enjoy it. However, reading the blurb for Adam’s story, which would be Silver State book 2, intrigued me. I think I will try another book by Renae Kelleigh. An ARC was kindly provided by the author for an honest review.
review 2: 3.5 StarsI was really intrigued by everything until we hit the epilogue and I had a "that's it?" moment. It seemed like everything was building to a big crescendo and then... Epilogue. There was a resolution to everything, but it was just kind of flat. I really liked the characters and the plot, but I needed more. Maybe I'm just weird like that. There was nothing else I disliked or anything, it just kind of bummed me out. Maybe the next one in the series will expand upon things more. less
