review 1: This is an excellent first story by Rhianna Samuels who works as an emergency room nurse. Part paranormal romance, part suspense thriller, and all wonderful escapism, this story (in eBook format) kept me absolutely glued to the computer reading it… all 300+ pages in a few hours. I just didn’t want to walk away from it. While this story is a romance centered on Hannah and Takeshi, Tom is definitely a major character. Hannah, along with the other ER nurses considered Dr. Tom Mercurio, neurosurgeon, to be one arrogant SOB. But as the story progressed, the change in the relationship between Hannah and Tom is a gradual, yet steady progression that says a lot to the old adage: Appearances aren’t everything. Throw gorgeous Takeshi, best friend to one and wanna-be-... morelover to the other, into the mix and there are more than a few moments of hilarity. But there is a definite serious undertone to the relationships as well ~ very beautifully and excellently portrayed! As to the suspense and thriller elements, they too was very well done. I was definitely enthralled and have already read my paperback version as well.
review 2: What an intense, fast paced story this was. SHAKING OFF THE DUST took me on an emotional roller coaster ranging from giggles, to anger, to tears, to love and all in between. It has it all! Rhianna Samuels has written a gripping romantic suspense novel, which includes an array of interesting and vividly real characters, some of them ghosts, and an intelligent and plausible suspense/terrorist plot that kept me glued to the story until the very end. And then there's the main thing, SHAKING OFF THE DUST is a really sweet and satisfying romance as the dance between Hannah and Takeshi while they get to know each other is so witty, fun and deeply touching. This was one of those rare books that had be wishing it would keep going and not end. less
