review 1: This book was entertaining, but took quite some time to get into. I didn't enjoy the Arctic section nearly as much as I thought I would, having just gone on an Arctic adventure myself, but I found the rest of the book to be pretty interesting, and sometimes entertaining. It wasn't nearly as gripping as his previous book (his memoirs about his crash and subsequent brain injury), and it probably wouldn't be interesting to people that aren't fans of Top Gear, but it was a decent read.
review 2: This book is a mixed bag. Richard turns out to be a decent writer; some of the sections are well-written and interesting. He's very likeable, though, and it's fun reading about his experiences. (I wish he didn't persist in thinking of Americans as rednecks, but what can you
... more do?) It's a short book, and it doesn't have any particular theme. But if you like Richard Hammond, and wonder what it's like filming "Top Gear" races or meeting Evel Kneivel, you'll like this book. less
