review 1: I read this book because it was a recommended book at my local library. I can imagine this as a Quentin Tarantino movie. It was everything great all rolled into one. It had action, dark comedy, mystery and a great road trip. I would often start laughing out loud when I thought of all these misfits getting together to catch a drug lord. It's not good vs. evil. It's minor criminals on a reluctant manhunt for someone worse than they are. In many ways it's more of a "guy" book, but I still loved it!!!!!
review 2: Fans of Carl Hiassen, Jennifer Cruise, or any quirky, fun mystery writer, will love Rick Gavin. Nick and Desmond take us on a tour of the Delta flats of Mississippi, along w/ some unsavory (and, um, interesting)characters. But, it doesn't matter what r... moreegion of the country you live in, you will recongize at least one person you've met. This one you do not want to put down. Very impressive for a debut, part-time writer/ constrution worker. I would love to see what you could do it you weren't getting up @ 4 a.m. and home @ 7 p.m. for work, Mr. Gavin. less
