review 1: Holy mother of God. That's basically all I have to say. I had heard of Tania's story because one of my friends had watched the documentary, so I already knew that punch line, so to speak, but that's not even half of it. The complexity and detail her story has in unbridled. The entire situation is truly unreal and very difficult to both believe and comprehend. My problem with the book (the reason it didn't obtain the 5 stars) is because although Tania seemingly disappeared after the news broke, they didn't really delve at all into the psychology or thought process as to why she spent the better part of 6 years of her life living the most complete lie she could. I understand they couldn't physically asked her, but I could have used a healthy few chapters on why professionals... more/family/friends though she did. I watched the documentary as soon as I was finished with the book, and it goes a bit more into detail in that respect, but in every other sense, the book is far superior. Absolutely insane. Give it a read.
review 2: This book kept me up all night reading. It hooked me from the very beginning. Obviously, this is a story you go into pretty much knowing what is going to happen. In a case like that, it's often difficult to enjoy the book anyway. This book did an incredible job of making a compelling read even when the ending is a given. My only criticism is that I wish the authors would have gone more into depth about the after effects of Head's lie and why she did it. Only a few pages at the end of the book are dedicated to that subject, while the rest of the story details the intricacies of her hoax. I was also slightly disappointed with the way the authors approached the fact that she lied, as if it wasn't as big a deal as it actually was. Other than that, a truly addictive read. less

Fascinating. Even though I already knew the outcome, I still couldn't put it down.
