review 1: One of the best autobiographies by an actor I have ever read / listened to! If you're a fan of Ron Perlman (I've been one since Beauty and the Beast on CBS) this book is chock full of tales of how he became an actor, made some movies and landed the role of Vincent on Beauty and the Beast. Every time Perlman thought he made it on Easy Street, there was inevitably some kind of lag / disappointment. But he kept on going, kept on working and there is a good section about how Guillermo Del Toro doggedly pursued the Hellboy movies starring Perlman. You have to listen to the audiobook version of this if you're a fan, there's no other choice - although it ain't for the faint hearted, Perlman uses the F-word liberally in almost every paragraph. There are some very funny stories in ... morehere that you have to hear in his voice - and he does impressions too - of meeting Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. The funniest story for my money is the movie he made with Marlon Brando, The Island of Dr Moreau. Perlman also mentions his new Amazon TV show, Hand of God, and talks about Sons of Anarchy.
review 2: Interesting story but left me wanting. It looks like it is just a collection of random stories with gaps. In the picture section in the middle of the book, he has a picture of Roy Dotrice, who played Father in Beauty and the Beast that he captions as a father figure. But in the chapters that deal with Beauty and the Beast, not a word about him. Plus the gratuitous cursing throughout the book grated after awhile. And in the last chapter, he includes some rants that make no sense at all. It is as if he was a deadline to meet and he just threw in random words to meet the page count. If you like Ron Perlman, you might enjoy it but personally, I feel it needed a more conscientious editor to clean it up. less

Great book. Ron knows how to tell a story with humor. Been a fan of his since Beauty and the Beast.

A surprisingly deep and vulnerable look at one of the coolest actors around.
