review 1: I enjoyed this one very much. Wonderful writing, interesting plot, and the characters were delightful. I not only liked the main couple, but the other two pairings as well. And who can resist strong, gentle, 8-foot tall, blue-skinned, blue-haired aliens searching for their mates?A lot of the alien words were kind of strange and jarring, but there were also quite a few wonderful, laugh-out-loud moments. The plot and world-building could have been fleshed out some more, and it all ended with an bit of an anti-climactic cliffhanger that seemed to suggest the set-up for a sequel. As soon as I finished, I went looking for the sequel (hoping for another story revolving around one of the other pairings) but sadly, there isn't one.But overall, this was a very enjoyable, enter... moretaining read. I could not put it down.
review 2: A great novel; I love how the aliens were portrayed, both personality-wise and species-wise, and the chapter-openers from Safera's journal fit very well with each section. I have to admit when I first read the summary, I wasn't expecting it to focus so clearly on multiple couples. Although the primary pairing is of Kenano and Nurak - the first to be matched, and the only 'completed' pair focused on, as Kenano had the ukaii placed and functional before the others - there is also a threading of attraction through the novel between Jared and the leader of the Lykurgan kri, Dawa. The third primaring pairing is the complete opposite of both, between human Tom and Lykurgan Eozz. If I had to classify them individually, I'd call Kenano and Nurak the romance pairing, based not only on attraction but mutual respect, etc. Jared and Dawa cannot understand one another because Jared didn't have the ukaii placed before they were attached, and Dawa really didn't intend to take a mate anyway. And as for Tom and Eozz ... well, they'd be the comedic pairing, to lighten up the more serious turn between the romance pairing. ^_~;There is a definite plot and it's well planned out. My only real wish was that it had been filled out a bit more. Some scenes were skipped over or skimmed down to the bare-bones [like some of the war-like attacks, and the things the humans would have been exposed to on Lykur, some of the more political motives and conflict, etc], and I kind of feel it would have been better had it been another 30 - 50 pages longer. less

Good, but the ending was really dissapointing.it should have focused on just one couple.

It's really good, although the kidnapping thing is a bit disturbing.
