review 1: Tobias is a 20 year old virgin living in a small town in Michigan, it is 1936, and he is obsessed with girls. His father is a Baptist minister, which creates conflict for Tobias regarding women and sex.Through an odd series of events, Tobias heads to Texas via the railroad; he hooks up with a hobo named Craw. Eventually Tobias and Craw land in Glen Rose, Texas... they work for Tobias's uncle on his farm. Parts of this book are funny, and the biblical references are amusing ... however, the story lost it's way at times.
review 2: This book had such promise, but did not deliver the goods. There were a lot of great ideas: a doubting character steeped in religion, a love interest with a dark secret, and an active supernatural element. So what was the problem? The
... morestory didn't fully develop any of these ideas. The closer I got to the "happily ever after ending" the clearer it became that I would never ever be happy with this book. less
