review 1: I wanted to read this after finishing all of Philippa Gregory's books in "The Cousin's War" series to find out more about the lives of the people involved. "Blood Sisters" was a very readable book (which is always a good thing when you're dealing with historical non-fiction) and I found it very insightful and interesting - particularly where I came across parts that I could relate to Gregory's novels. I'll definitely look out for more of Gristwood's work.
review 2: "Blood Sisters" is a non-fiction look at the dense and multiplex relationships among the main female participants in the Wars of the Roses. Gristwood has obviously done her research, and she does an admirable job of folding information from historical invoices into her narrative. But I don't think I
... moreread anything truly "new" in this book ... a nice complement to Gregory's series and the TV adaptation, but nothing earth-shattering. Oh, and my copy was missing pages 103 & 104, and there were some very obvious editorial oversights. Odd, given the overall quality of this book. less
