review 1: This book became something of an addiction for the couple of days it took to read through it. It moves at a brisk pace and never hangs around any particular character or situation long. That made it both a lot of fun, and a bit tough to track with. So many names come and go and return and disappear again throughout these 420 pages that it would take a spreadsheet to really keep track of who's who. In the end, Marvel itself is the main character, with the publishers and creators and editors that pass through its doors relegated to supporting roles. Which, if you take Howe at his word, is a lot like how Marvel itself was run.
review 2: Crudo ma splendidoLa Marvel al microscopio ma soprattutto al pubblico ludibrio. Spoglia degli aspetti emozionali che i suoi fumet... moreti sanno dare e verace nelle sue vicessitudini da leader del fumetto in poco tempo e con un'escalation impressionante.In un volume solo tanti "dietro le quinte" inimmaginabili dai comuni fan. Niente peli sulla lingua, quindi. Ma con la conferma che in mezzo a chi munge la macchina da soldi che ci sta dietro, la passione di tanti nel tempo ha contribuito ai sogni di tutti.Nella mia lettura ci vedo il succo della vita di artisti (perchè i fumettisti, come gli sceneggiatori d'altronde, sono da ritenersi a tutti gli effetti artisti) di altro genere e di altri tempi. Gente che campava d'arte ma che venivano foraggiati da chi di arte ne capiva il giusto. less
