review 1: This was probably a 4 star book until the very last sentence. It will be hard to give a review without giving anything away....This book is a little dark and disturbing. It is told from alternating points of view of Will and Asheley (brother and sister) retelling what has happened in their lives in the past month or so to the police. From the very first chapter you know that something really bad has happened and that sucked me right in. This book is almost like a train wreck that you cannot look away from. I could NOT put it down. I just wanted to know what in the world went wrong. As the book goes on it gets even more unbelievable. The stories from Will and Asheley start to not quite match up, and Will seems to get crazier and crazier. And then the ending.... Props to Sea... moren Olin. I read the last sentence about 5 times and then scoured the remaining blank pages, wishing there was something more. ANYTHING. The last sentence changes the whole entire book. I'm so confused, but I think that's the point. This is the second book I've read from Olin, and I will probably be looking for others.
review 2: A wonderful and delightful read that I pretty much finished in one sitting. Then I had to go back and re-read certain parts again to make sure I read the ending right. Wow...Good buildup and development of the siblings' dark yet complex relationship. There was a contrast between both POVs. I was very intrigued by both characters, who were well-portrayed, just like the situation they were in. I could feel their increasing desperation and helplessness, the dark predicament they were in, all of it. The author did an amazingly brilliant job by leading us into believing what he wanted us to believe, and slowly introducing discrepancies into what the characters were saying.I never saw the ending coming. It was shocking, unexpected and blew my mind. Heck, it even made me start doubting myself -- but I wouldn't have it any other way.Definitely a book I would keep re-reading -- and that always means something for me. less

I forced myself to finish this book. I found it to be creepy, unappealing, and dissatisfying.
