review 1: I couldn't put this book down. I found it absolutely fascinating and found her perspective enlightening. Her ability to put her thoughts and feelings into words the way she did in this book is amazing. Through my work, I come into contact with many people who have a wide variety of disabilities, life experiences, and criminal history. She was able to articulate some of my thoughts and feelings about people and the justice system that I have never thought to put into words before.
review 2: In this candid and well written memoir, Moroney shares her experiences with the justice system, family, friends, her employer, community and, moreover, her newlywed husband who committed violent, sexual crimes one month after their marriage. Moroney instantly grieves the los
... mores of the spouse she thought she knew and the dreams she had for their future together. She is "victimized" too by her husband's crimes and suffers several, significant losses, yet is unrecognized in terms of victim support services here in Ontario. I was appalled that she chose to remain faithful, supportive and forgiving of her husband and had to constantly remind myself not to judge her for I have not walked a mile in her shoes. We all can only wish/pray that we never do. Best wishes Shannon Moroney for a happy rest of life! less
