Days of Our Lives
review 1: I am an avid fan of Days of Our Lives. I found that this book brought back John and Marlena Black that had been taken off of the show. It starts with John and Marlena in Switzerland, where they went so John could get back his ability to move again after becoming paralyzed by and injection from Stefano DiMera that was actually meant for Marlena. We also come to see Belle and Shawn also with their daughter, Claire. They are sailing around the world on a yacht that was given to them by John Black. They are on their way to Monte Carlo and then they will be off to visit John and Marlena in Switzerland. On the scene in Monte Carlo are the Gaines': Olivia, Richie, Charley(Charlotte), Jackson and Chance. Olivia and Charley become involved in an auto accident on their way to a v... moreery exclusive yacht party. Olivia is thrown from the wreckage and Charley is bleeding profusely from her neck. A little ways away are Shawn and Chelsea (Shawn's half-sister)and they see the whole accident. Running to help, Shawn applies a compress to Charley's neck and Chelsea sees that Olivia is gone. Chelsea calls for and ambulance and they are off to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it is found that Charley needs blood, a rare type B. Shawn matches and gives his blood to save Charley. In the meantime, Richie Gaines is being arrested for securites fraud, bringing down his sons Jackson and Chance with him. He is released on bond and is under house arrest with an ankle device so that he cannot leave his property.John and Marlena get involved when Shawn calls to ask Marlena to help Charley with the passing of her mother and how to deal with their father. This book is a soap in itself. I enjoyed reading it knowing this will never happen on the program I watch every day.
review 2: I don't know maybe I missed something along the lines somewhere but I read the description of this book here on Goodreads and then read the book and the whole time I was thinking "Who's this Amelia person they mention in the description?" I can only assume they are talking about "Charley". Although, Amelia and Charley are no where near like sounding names. As for the actual book, I've been a Days fan for the better half of 20 some years. I appreciated some of the shows story line tie-ins and it did have the daytime drama that Day's is known for. I actually couldn't put it down. I'll admit, at certain points I wanted to just skim over it to get onto the next part. John and Marlena's constant fondling of each other for one. I'm aware they haven't had sex in years but it seemed like every time I turned the page, they were all over each other with no other real story line there for a while. I guess the book really wasn't that bad. It's pretty much what I expected and I caught on to where they were going with the plot pretty quickly. less

An entertaining read...stayed true to the insane plots of soap operas.
