review 1: Probably better than three stars, but not much more than that. Rich has a sharp sense of humor; a sort of hybrid of David Sedaris & Dorothy Parker. Unfortunately he wastes it on weak targets, primarily ill-behaved children & Brooklyn hipsters. Doubt it will age well, at the very least it will require heavy annotation to make any sense to someone born in 2004. In the here and now, strongly recommended to those who have New Yorker and/or Atlantic Monthly subscriptions (or wish they did).
review 2: I stopped reading this, because I wasn't in the right mindset and I really don't like short stories. Last night I was reading a dark mystery type and I just wasn't in the mood, so I went back to this book and read it all the way through. Can't even tell you which ... morestory I loved the most, but the book was stimulating, sarcastic and metaphorical. Don't take it as an easy read of short stores. But read it! less
