review 1: While this was a sweet read, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. With a strong start I fell into this book, and was eager to see the ensuing drama I expected. But it never quite took off after the initial meeting for me.While there were times I found myself smiling, Ash in a snitt was comical. There was no big emotional feel for me. I guess I was expecting a little more drama behind Jackson, but when things finally came to a head it all seemed to happen off page. We were just told of everyone’s reaction but saw very little. The ending picked up a little but I'm afraid I was rather bored through the middle of this one.A cute couple with a sweet story, but failed to engage me all the way through.
review 2: I don't know why I love this story. The story is
... more average and fairly predictable. The characters are all great but they weren't all distinct individuals. Ash was an asshole a lot of the time, etc., etc. Yet I loved the short that it was based on so much that I chose this book for this month, even though I have to subtract 10 points, and I am not a rereader. I really liked this novel, too, although perhaps not quite as much. Their arguing and inability to have a conversation without blowing up was really believable and funny. There were a couple of info dumps but they weren't very long and by the time I noticed, they were over. I really didn't need to hear about the past of one of the owners of a label. .There was a little too much sex, but not a lot, and it was sweet. Being upset about being moved to the middle of a festival show instead of the beginning is idiotic. This time the reasons were given--Ash didn't want to be in the middle where the energy lagged--but at all the festivals I've attended, people don't really start showing up until the third act or so. Being second would mean a much smaller audience. Usually the acts go from obscure to headliners as the day progresses. But the story was sweet, I loved the MCs and their female friend. She was sassy and supportive as is typical of the female best friend in M/M romance books, but she was a country singer and Southern girl, which made her unique. The rest of Ash's band were great people, too, and were funny. The book had several funny moments. I believe the way the book described fame and paprazzi was well done. The difficulties with being famous contrasted with the love of an audience was good, too. The MCs felt real. The pacing was excellent and I was done before I knew it. (That's kind of a weird saying, isn't it?)Overall, this was an enjoyable story and worth the read. less

I really enjoyed this one, although I must say there hasn't been a SJ Frost book I haven't enjoyed.
