review 1: An okay book, although I got a little lost and impatient in all the politics and intrigue. Grace, an English noblewoman around the year 1300, is forced to marry Lachlan, a Scottish noble. He doesn't trust her because he suspects she's responsible for the death of his brother, to whom she was betrothed. He needs to marry her though because he needs her substantial dowry to fix his lands. Something along those lines. I didn't read it too carefully, but it was decent. Grace has a limp and some kind of dry-skin condition, and she's very insecure about her looks. She also stutters. Just one of these things would've been adequate, the whole slew of imperfections was sort of excessive. Anyway, despite her faults, the gorgeous Lachlan finds himself falling in love with he... morer. They had decent chemistry and I thought the author did a pretty good job of making their love convincing.
review 2: The story kept me interested and the characters were well developed. I kept finding that the heroine was over burdened by her afflictions to the point that it was a tad on the unrealistic. If the author had chosen just one of them I would have been far more content with her. Instead I spent much of my time thinking about her afflictions instead of where the story was going. Otherwise it was a good read. less

Very good read. The only problem I had with this is that in the beginning, Lachlan had a mistress.
