review 1: A variation on "Peter and the Wolf" that really has nothing much in common with the original story, this tale is full of weird fairy tale and mythological creatures, strange occurrences and two main characters I could not for the life of me understand, never mind like. Peter is a fox shifter who doesn't want to grow up (that much is clear) and Luca is a wolf-dragon mix who has been hunted. Now he has found his own cave and peace by living alone. For some reason he is attracted to Peter and they end up together. Neither fairy tale nor parody, the weird mix of styles is just not for me.
review 2: 3.5/5 stars...Sort of a gothic fairy tale take on Peter and the Wolf, with a gay twist.Peter is a kitsune, a fox, and Luca is a wolf/dragon shifter. The two grew up toge... morether in a shoe of sorts with the "old lady" and various other magical fairy tale-esque creatures. Luca has been gone for a while now, while Peter and the others are dealing with someone, or something killing people in the forest. One afternoon Peter strays a little too far out and gets himself into trouble, and an old friend comes to the rescue.There was a lot going on in this little story. The author took bits and pieces from several different stories and tales and threw them in a box and shook the shit out of it. You have Peter and the Wolf, fairies, pixies, the old woman in the shoe taking care of everyone, and I think... i stress I think, the fox and the hound. Oh, and there be Dragons here! Some of it worked, but some of it was confusing. Overall though, I'm intrigued and anxious to read the next installment in this series to see if Peter and Luca's relationship continues to grow. And to see if Luca can learn how to control his three different personalities. Definitely a fast, fun, free read. less
