review 1: A lovely story, simply written and told. Nothing very deep, just lovely. Kind of predictable, but satisfying. The story tells of a single mom and her daughter who move from place to place to avoid being treated as outcasts. They land in a nice English village and make friends before encountering problems again. Of course, this time there is a happy solution to all problems so they can stay with their new friends, and perhaps a little magic involved. I do love a happy ending. Fortunately for me, there's a sequel!
review 2: Enjoyed the descriptions of vintage clothing. The main character is pretending to be of Italian descent rather than admit her Middle East background. She is bringing up her daughter as a single parent in England while running a vintage clothi
... moreng store. Every time things get tough for her she moves to a new town. Reminds me of the main character of Chocolat. Except that the main character of Chocolat is very strong. Plot seemed to be moving along quietly and then abruptly was over and all ends were tied up in a couple of pages. Will probably read the sequel which is supposed to focus on the daughter as an adult. less

I loved the Vintage Clothes Shop with it's element of magic. It was a quick read but great story.

A bit all over the place, some parts were good but other parts just didn't work in my opinion.

More 3 and a half stars. Pretty book, not huge amounts of substance but nice to read
