review 1: First in a series, Ronald (Cheesie) Mack and his best friend Georgie are about to graduate from fifth grade. Cheesie is in the midst of a secret point battle with his annoying older sister, never lies (about anything) and the boys are about to embark on solving the mystery of an old envelope that Georgie discovered in his basement. While I am not the target audience, I can typically appreciate books written for other audiences. I could not however, appreciate the constant references to the cheesiemack.com website. I did like the story and the character development, so I'll be interested to find out how my students react.
review 2: The book Cheesie Mack, Is Not a Genius or Anything by Steve Colter is about a boy named Ronald, but everyone calls him “Cheesie
... more. In this book, "Cheesie" and his friend find a mysterious envelope with a 1909, VDB, penny made in San Fransico. The envelope said the owners name so “Cheesie” and his friend decide to return the penny to its owner. But they soon find out that the penny is worth over $2,000 and are stuck in thought of returning the penny or keeping it for themselves. So “Cheesie” and his friend decide to do the right thing and give the owner, the penny. Then the owner is grateful and tells a secret allowing them to keep the penny. less
