review 1: Amazing story of an ordinary couple, aligned with an NGO, who made a difference. My favorite part of the book was the end where the author talked about Holocaust myths--all Dutchmen hid Jews, all Frenchmen were in the Resistance, no one in America knew how bad the situation was. Well, this American couple acted in 1939 based on info they read about German treatment of Jews. My low star rating is based on the fact that the story is thin--really too thin for a book--I speedread this one. I think the HBO documentary film might be a better way to hear this story.

... morefficult to pick fifty children from the thousands applying to come and then finding out as the War progressed what the Nazis were doing to Jewish people. The Author managed to track the Histories of most of the children and they adapted well with many following the Jewish tradition of higher education. Very good read. less
