review 1: My best friend told me I had to read this book because there was an angel named Gabriel in it and after reading her book about Gabriel she knew Id wanna read this one to. I actually read a few reviews before I read this and now i dont feel so alone. I liked Cassiel more than Gabriel and I'm a dude lol He was hilarious. he's a man's angel or whatever lolThis was a different take on the idea of angels which is another thing I liked. I went in expecting this to be completely romantic and it wasnt. Dude, there's battle scenes and theyre written so well that i really didn't think i was readin romance at all. This was fantasy at its best. I suck at this whole review thing cus I never know if I'm sellin the book well but just buy it and see. Youre gonna get caught up in it and b... moreefore u know it, ur done and ur mind blown.I would for sure read another book by this author. Hard to believe this was a debut novel. Can u give more than 5 stars?
review 2: I received a review copy in exchange for the honest review below:I was immediately intrigued after reading the summary, already thinking about what will happen in the book. Gabriel sounds so mysterious in the summary! I know I need to find out more about him and why Gaia wasn't supposed to be able to see him but yet she can.The book starts with the unfortunate car accident that caused the deaths of everyone in the car, except Gaia and she saw him. She thought he was the result of her imagination until he was simply everywhere she went. There were times where I really want roll my eyes at Gaia because she seems a wee bit too obsessive of Gabriel, in my honest opinion. Things got much more interesting when Gabriel's brother Cassiel came into the picture! I think he's funny and an interesting character. Gabriel couldn't be with Gaia because of who he was, but both just couldn't help it and it's disastrous... I love the battle scene the most! It was well-written and I really could imagine what's happening and that is where Cassiel really shine. I like the character development for Cassiel much more than both Gaia and Gabriel. If you enjoy reading happy endings, you will not be disappointed. One drawback is that it's a pretty abrupt and short end though explanations were given. Overall, I really enjoyed reading Shattering Halos and its unique storyline and good cast of characters. Looking forward to the next book! less
