review 1: For some reason, I found this book to be extremely interesting. It's all about plastic. Instead on a riot how plastic is bad for us, Susan Freinkel strictly stick to one subject of plastic and she express very little personal rhetoric on the subject. If you want to know how plastic came about and the future of the material, then you have to listen to this title. As you start reading, it should take you back to school, where you are taking chemistry again.
review 2: Excellent book, can't say enough about it. Interesting and important topic, well-written and well organized. This could have potentially been a dry book, but the author did a great job interspersing stories, simplifying technical subjects, providing just enough history, and keeping things moving, not
... more dwelling too much on one particular aspect of the plastics discussion. The result is an entertaining read. Also commendable was the balance in this book. Despite pointing out all the environmental problems with plastic, this is not a rant against "big business" or the plastics industry, nor is she trying to suggest we give up plastic. Her respect for the engineering marvels of plastic and her understanding of the difficulties that manufacturers face was evident. less
