review 1: I have to hand it to Susie Quint. She took a situation that other writers might ruin with a series of unworkable coincidences and wove a story that really works. Maddie and Zach are connected in a way neither realized but Ms. Quint made it all realistic and plausible. That’s a sign of a good writer. To keep her nephew away from his murdering father, Maddie changes her name and runs. Maddie’s character is often just a hair’s breath away from danger and she’s a strong enough character to hold her own and do whatever necessary to protect an innocent child. Zach quickly realizes Maddie is in trouble, and since he already has a history of picking up injured strays, you know he’s going to push his way into her life to help her. You have to love his good intentions, eve... moren if it doesn’t always work out as he’d planned. I mean, what’s not to love about a strong, good looking cowboy?This is a fast paced book with two strong main characters, a well-rounded supporting cast, and a plot that was extremely well crafted. I am looking forward to reading much more from Susie Quint. I think you’ll really enjoy this one.~ TRS for AReCafe
review 2: Okay -- I didn't finish this and don't think I will. It just didn't make sense. I do like a west TX accent on a hunky cowboy, but, this does not mean I condone bad grammer. That is just stupid and I do not tolerate stupidity.Okay, now lets talk about Lubbock, TX. Any idea how far Lubbock, TX is from the coast of TX? To say you work offshore, but are based in Lubbock ... maybe, but think you could be a bit closer to the coast - or, hell of an expense for the company paying you to travel. Whole lot of TX boys who live closer...Okay, now you meet someone, and and hour later you take the to your room to try to "get lucky". Decide you will woo the lady by dancing to Josh Turner [yuck]. And, then she shoots you ... and your not mad but concerned for the honey because, you've been shot before! Ugh!!Maybe other people can read this tripe, but I just couldn't get past the first 4 or 5 chapters. I didn't see how the author could pull this out, and frankly, life is too short and there are too many really good books out there to try to give this one more of my time....Happy Reading! less
